About Jacob Wayne Bryner
My pieces are cheeky critiques of prevalent and at times voguish “life-n-times” events, painted in the hope of generating consciousness, social change, and at the very least a deep chuckle. I believe that by shining light on the contradictions, monstrosities, and comedies of human behavior and culture we might somehow get over our current conflicts and issues that stand before us in the modern age.
I consider my art to be “public art” more than anything, even though I do sell and create based on private patronage and attempting to pay the bills (as it were). This is why not only due to styles but also message I’ve embraced the term “Social Pop Surrealism” to explain my style and approach.
